Irina Skalova, AKBD, Interior Designer

Irina received a Bachelor of Science degree in Interior Design with Summa cum Laude honors from East Carolina University. After working for several firms and contractors, she opened her own design studio. Irina brings her wide expertise and her tailored classic, yet modern design sensibility to private residences and commercial properties, creating interiors that are current, sophisticated and refined. Her carefully honed aesthetic comes from her passion and study of art, architecture, and extensive travels.

"Interior Design is about solving problems and finding solutions in the most beautiful and inspiring way", says Irina. With this philosophy as a guide, Irina collaborates with each client to define a visual concept that seamlessly integrates art, family, and personal joy into every room of a home. “I am open-minded, I love unique and beautiful pieces, modern furnishings as well as antiques and family heirlooms that tell stories about people's lives. This is my approach to interior design, finding what’s beautiful and beloved, and surrounding my clients with those things every day.”

Irina resides in downtown New Bern with her husband Kevin, and their two children. Irina serves as member of  ECU Interior Design Advisory Board.
